You've chosen to welcome American Express® Cards. Now let's put Merchant Membership to work for your business.
This site will help you become familiar with all of the tools and resources to help you grow your business, manage your
account and protect against fraud. As you begin accepting the Card for customer payments, be sure to take advantage
of all that membership in our network has to offer.
If you haven't processed an American Express transaction, follow these steps to test your terminal and ensure you are ready to accept American Express® Cards.
Choose the "Sale" key on your terminal, or follow the procedures provided with your terminal for completing a keyed manual transaction.
Key in American Express Card number 3739-532443-61001, expiration 12/XX (input last two digits of current year), and submit a charge for $1. If your terminal asks you for additional information, press "Enter/Send" or enter "0000" to bypass.
When you receive a six-digit Authorization Approval code, you are ready to accept American Express Cards.
To offset the transaction, process a "void" using the same Card number and expiration date in step 2. If you don’t receive a six-digit Authorization Approval Code or receive an error message, contact your terminal provider for assistance. You can often find your terminal provider's name and number on the underside of your terminal. When you call, you will need to know your American Express Merchant Account number.
